Definition
- Programmes to strengthen the cultural sector (cinema, music, dance, painting, literature, etc.) of developing countries; measures to promote or protect the diversity of cultural expressions. This includes support to cultural industries, construction and reparation of facilities; capacity-building for artists and other persons working in the cultural sector; activities to support the production or the dissemination of artistic works of developing country nationals (e.g. artistic or musical events). Preservation of tangible (artefacts, monuments, sites, museums) and intangible (arts, social practices, knowledge and skills, shared values, traditions, performances) cultural heritage that has a diversity of values including symbolic, historic, artistic, aesthetic, ethnological or anthropological, scientific and social significance. Use code 99820 – promotion of development awareness for activities in the field of culture in the donor country that are designed to increase public support and awareness of development co-operation efforts in the donor country.
